The Porto-owned defender has been linked with a permanent move to Stoke City, but West Ham United should enter the race.
Hammers boss Slaven Bilic will surely be looking to bolster his defensive ranks this summer, with Jose Fonte struggling to justify his £8 million price-tag, and James Collins set to turn 34 in August.
West Ham fans will be desperate for some high profile arrivals at the London Stadium during the off-season, and an improvement upon last term’s 11th placed finish will be of paramount importance to Bilic, if he is to remain in charge of the club.
With this in mind, the Croatian should challenge Stoke City for the signing of Bruno Martins Indi, who impressed during his season-long loan spell at the BET365 Stadium last season.

The 25-year-old Holland international has just one year remaining on his current deal with parent club Porto, and should be available for a fairly reasonable price.
Standing at 6ft 1in tall, the former Feyenoord man is strong in the air, but is also quick along the ground, and has a fantastic knack of anticipating danger before it actually develops.
Martins Indi proved that he has the physical capabilities to cope with the robust nature of English football during his time in the Potteries last term, and there is little about his game that would put off any potential suitors for his signature.
His potential arrival at the London Stadium would also give the likes of Fonte, Winston Reid and James Collins the extra incentive to increase their own levels, what with the added competition for places, and their performances would surely improve as a direct result of that.
And if Bilic manages to bring the Dutchman to east London this summer, it could turn out to be a real coup for the Hammers.
