West Ham United should challenge Newcastle United for the Crystal Palace winger.

West Ham are in desperate need of strengthening this summer, after their substandard Premier League campaign last season, and Manuel Pellegrini has a lot of work to do at the London Stadium.
One particular area where the Chilean needs to bolster is his wide attacking department, with Robert Snodgrass facing an uncertain future with the Hammers, and Manuel Lanzini having been ruled out until the new year with a serious knee injury.
With this in mind, West Ham should consider a move for Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend, who is attracting attention from Newcastle, according to the South London Press.

The 26-year-old joined the Eagles from the Magpies in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £13 million, and he has gone on to chalk up five goals and 16 assists in 79 appearances for Palace.
The 13-capped England international would be an excellent signing for the Hammers, and they quite simply must beat Newcastle to his signature this summer.

Townsend plays with a certain type of directness that would help add some potency to West Ham’s play in the final third.
He would undoubtedly be an upgrade on the ageing Robert Snodgrass, and possesses the kind of quality that could help take the east London outfit to the next level.
Whether Palace will be willing to sell Townsend remains to be seen, but West Ham should test their resolve by submitting an offer for the winger this summer nevertheless.
And if Pellegrini does manage to bring him to the London Stadium, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for them.
