The Newcastle United winger has been linked with a move to West Ham United.

It is clear that West Ham United need to strengthen their squad before the end of this month, but bringing in Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu wouldn’t significantly improve them.
Atsu is the subject of interest from West Ham, as reported by The Northern Echo.
Although he possesses much in the way of flair, Atsu has often struggled to perform consistently for Newcastle and isn’t a player who would be of great use to West Ham as they battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

This season Atsu has scored twice and provided two assists in 19 Premier League appearances for Newcastle, and West Ham require a player who is rather more productive.
In addition, West Ham now often deploy a 3-5-2 formation and in such a system there isn’t a natural position for Atsu to fill, which is further evidence to suggest that he isn’t a player worth pursuing.

Although they are currently in 11th place in the Premier League, there is still much work for West Ham to do in order to preserve their Premier League status and they must bolster their resources by bringing in players who are capable of making an instant impact, with Atsu certainly not falling into that category.
