The West Ham striker has been mainly used as a substitute.
West Ham United’s fortunes have certainly improved under David Moyes, with the club having produced some encouraging performances, but there does remain much uncertainty regarding certain situations.
One such issue is the future of Diafra Sakho, with the striker having been unable to command a regular place in the West Ham starting lineup when fit.
A player who has had several injury problems during his time at West Ham, Sakho has had to be content with a role as a substitute this season and there have been claims that the club are reluctant to start him as he would then be entitled to a £50,000 appearance bonus.
As reported by The Mirror, West Ham have denied those claims, but there is a case to suggest that the club should look to move Sakho on and reinvest the money in a more reliable striker.
In 71 appearances for West Ham, Sakho has scored 24 goals, which isn’t an especially bad return, but he has produced some underwhelming performances.
If West Ham are to continue their upward trend under Moyes then they need players that can be relied upon, and Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, who has scored 73 goals in the Premier League, would be a good fit.
Sakho, meanwhile, needs to go elsewhere and play regularly, but it seems clear that his longterm future doesn’t lie at West Ham.
