The Bayern Munich ace would be an exceptional addition to the West Ham United squad.

The former coach of Manchester City, Chilean Manuel Pellegrini (L), arrives for the draw of the Copa Sudamericana football tournament, in Santiago, on July 12, 2016.

West Ham fans seem to be looking forward to the new Premier League season for the first time in a very long time, with Manuel Pellegrini at the helm and a whole host of big names being linked to the club.

There is still plenty of work left to be done for the Chilean, however.

One particular area where he might be looking to strengthen is his left-back department.

Aaron Cresswell was utilised more as a centre-back last term, and even then, his form was patchy at best. Arthur Masuaku, meanwhile is far better suited to playing the left-wing role, and his defending leaves a lot to be desired.

With this in mind, the Hammers should consider a bold move for Bayern Munich man Juan Bernat, with the German giants ready to sell the Spaniard this summer, according to the Mirror.

The 25-year-old joined Bayern from Valencia in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £8.8 million, according to ESPN, and he has gone on to make 111 appearances in all competitions for the Bavarian outfit.

Bernat has just one year remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Arena, however, and Bayern will surely sell him this summer, rather than lose him on a free next summer.

West Ham could offer the seven-capped Spain international guaranteed first-team football, and the left-back would surely prove to be a massive hit at the London Stadium.

He is a skilful, quick, and attack-minded full-back, who would bring an extra level of both quality and potency down the Hammers’ left flank, and if Pellegrini manages to convince him into joining West Ham, it would be a truly sensational signing for the east London outfit.
