West Ham United’s Michail Antonio will be hoping to have an injury-free season at the London Stadium ahead of the new season.

West Ham United are slowly building a very strong squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign as a number of quality players have walked through the doors of the London Stadium – the standout perhaps being Pablo Fornals.

But before Thursday’s deadline, the Hammers will want to keep hold of their important players, one of them being the very underrated Michail Antonio.

The Daily Mirror (page 69 of its Sunday, 28 July edition) previously claimed that Crystal Palace are keen on the services of the powerful Hammers attacker.

Manuel Pellegrini is trying to plot West Ham’s road to Europe, and whilst Antonio isn’t their most important player, he is a key part of the squad.

The East London outfit simply cannot sell Antonio this summer because of the versatility he provides, those goals from out wide and that something special at any given moment.

If the Irons were to sell Antonio to their London rivals then it would show their lack of ambition because they need to keep some of their best players if they are to go the next level next season.

Not only that, whilst Pellegrini has added attacking quality to his front line, he has also lost firepower in the final third and he wouldn’t want to lose anymore ahead of what will be a gruelling campaign,

In recent seasons, injuries have hampered Antonio and it has stopped him from trying to take his game to the next level, but he can do so this season.

It is a tough opening start at home for Pellegrini’s side as they welcome the Premier League champions Manchester City to the London Stadium.
