West Ham United are expected to be busy throughout the duration of the transfer window.

The Mirror are reporting this morning that Serie A side Roma are closing in on a deal to sign Hammers flop Sofiane Feghouli, with an initial loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season being mooted.

If the Algerian is allowed to leave the club, Slaven Bilic must ensure that he brings in a replacement, and hopefully an upgrade on the 27-year-old.

And West Ham should consider a move for Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend, who only moved to Selhurst Park in the summer, for a fee believed to be in the region of £13 million.

The 25-year-old has failed to live up to expectations in South London, however, with just one goal and one assist to his name in 19 Premier League appearances for the Eagles.

His talent is still beyond question though, and a move to the East End could see him reinvigorate his career.

He is incredibly quick, and possesses the uncanny knack of seemingly having the ball stuck to his feet when he is running at defenders with pace.

Townsend is also an expert set-piece taker – something that could prove to be hugely beneficial to West Ham, with someone like Andy Carroll leading the line.

The 25-year-old winger’s contract with Palace does not expire until the summer of 2021, so he will not come cheap, but his incredible ability would make him worth every penny of the transfer fee required to prise him from Selhurst Park.

Obviously much will still depend on whether Feghouli eventually leaves the club this month, but if he does, the Hammers hierarchy should not hesitate in making a move for Townsend.
