West Ham desperately need January investment if they are to survive Premier League relegation.

David Moyes should be drawing up his January shortlist after his West Ham side were powerless to avoid a 2-0 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday afternoon.
The Hammers proved fruitless in front of goal, as golden chances fell to the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Marko Arnautovic and Cheikhou Kouyate but none were able to convert with confidence a huge problem.
Although the Hammers did have chances, retaining possession of the ball in midfield and creativity were two major areas of the performance that were alarmingly below par, and Moyes must address that in January.

It should see the former Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland manager turn to one of his former sides in Real Sociedad and sign playmaker Sergio Canales on the cheap. The playmaker could be sold in January as part of a cut-price deal, as his contract ends in June.
Canales, 26, played under Moyes during the Scotsman’s tenure in charge during 2014-15, where Moyes struggled to adapt to the Spanish La Liga.
A 10-time Spain Under-21 international, Canales is known for his versatility across the midfield and attack, as he is able to play in central midfield, the number 10 role and on both flanks.

His creativity has reached a new level this season, turning into somewhat of an assist machine in the Europa League for Sociedad. Making four appearances against Rosenborg, Zenit and Zardar, Canales has been the architect for five of Sociedad’s goals.
An impeccable first touch and ability from set-pieces, Canales would be the perfect midfield signing as he already has an understanding with Moyes following their time together in Spain.
Signing the midfield star, who Moyes will remember well after he had a hand in 11 goals during his 42 2014-15 outings, will be the perfect connection between midfield and attack required to fire the Hammers away from relegation.
