West Ham are expected to busy in next month’s transfer market, and former Everton ace Shane Duffy should be on Moyes’ shortlist.

Other than central midfield, David Moyes’ transfer priorities at West Ham United in the January transfer window must be to bring a new central defender to the club to plug the leak at the back.
The Hammers have conceded a huge 32 goals in just 16 league games this season, with the likes of Jose Fonte, Winston Reid, Angelo Ogbonna and James Collins are all struggling to keep out their Premier League opposition at centre-back.
The West Ham defenders showed just what they can do last Saturday with a 1-0 win over Chelsea, but it will take a lot more than just one game to prove to Moyes that a new centre-back is not required.

On top of the former Everton manager’s shortlist should be a defender with Premier League experience, one that is set to enter the peak of his career and one Moyes can trust to give his all.
That should see his attention swing into the direction of Brighton and Ireland international Shane Duffy, who Moyes knows more than well from their time together at Everton.
Moyes, 54, gave 25-year-old Duffy his senior debut in a 1-0 win over AEK Athens in December 2009, before going on to hand the defensive powerhouse Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup debuts.

The 17-time international left Everton a year after Moyes had joined Manchester United, and he has shone since helping Brighton gain promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history.
Duffy has been instrumental in Chris Hughton’s side keeping five clean sheets in 16 Premier League matches, a decent return for a side fighting relegation.
Luring him to the London Stadium would see West Ham finally be able to field a side where they are not forced to play out-of-form stars such as Fonte and Reid, prior to their injuries. Moyes and Duffy’s connection would be key in saving the Hammers from the drop.
