The Leicester City man would be a superb signing for West Ham United this summer.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has a lot of work to do at the London Stadium this summer, as he looks to bring in some signings of genuine quality, in an attempt to guide his side back into contention for the Europa League spots this season.

One particular area of concern for the Croatian will be his midfield department, what with Pedro Obiang’s future far from certain, and Mark Noble’s contribution to the side under fierce scrutiny.

With this in mind, West Ham should consider a move for Foxes midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

The 27-year-old Leicester man has all of the attributes required to serve as Noble’s long-term successor at the London Stadium, what with his intelligent distribution of the football, and his outstanding leadership qualities.

The former Manchester United academy graduate was influential during Leicester’s improbable Premier League title-winning campaign in 2016 but, much like the rest of his teammates, his performances dropped last season, as the Foxes finished in a disappointing 12th position in the table.

He still has a lot to offer though, and a fresh start amidst new surroundings might be just what he needs to reinvigorate his career.

Drinkwater could prove to be a really useful asset to the Hammers’ side, and would add a certain level of nouse and guile to an already robust midfield that includes the likes of Cheikhou Kouyate.

He is still under contract at the King Power Stadium for another four years, however, so he will certainly not come cheap, but if Bilic can convince the West Ham board to splash the cash on the three-capped England international, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Hammers.
