Chelsea’s Loic Remy has failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, and West Ham should make a move for the Frenchman.
West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is desperate to land a striker
With West Ham United’s search for a striker continuing to disappoint, and the start of the new Premier League season fast approaching, the Hammers’ need for a forward is becoming more urgent by the day.
Attempts to sing Alexandre Lacazette, Michy Batshuayi and Carlos Bacca have all failed, and Co-Chairman David Sullivan highlighted the lack of Champions League football on offer as a main reason for said players rejecting the club (whufc.com).
It may be time for West Ham to consider a striker just below the elite level they have been looking for, but at the same time, someone who is fully capable of producing the goods in the Premier league.
Loic Remy celebrates after scoring for Chelsea
They need look no further than Chelsea striker Loic Remy. The 29-year-old Frenchman was already behind Diego Costa in the Blues pecking order, and now with the addition of Batshuayi, and their interest in bringing Romelu Lukaku to the club, he will surely fall even further behind in his pursuit of regular first-team football.
Remy has proven Premier League quality, and possesses blistering pace, which would compliment Hammers target man Andy Carroll perfectly.
Since his arrival in English football, he has managed 30 goals in 73 league outings, which is quite impressive considering 26 of those appearances have been from the substitutes bench.
Remy would be a smart signing for West Ham
He can play in all positions across the front-line, which would enable Hammers boss Slaven Bilic to implement more variation in his tactical play.
West Ham should make a move for Remy now, so he has time to settle amongst the squad before the start of the season, and with the wealth of attacking talent at Chelsea’s disposal, there would surely be no resistance from them if the Hammers made their interest known.
