West Ham United should challenge Everton and Newcastle United for Alassane Plea.

According to Calciomercato, Newcastle and Everton are interested in signing Nice hitman Alasanne Plea.

The French striker has 13 goals in 30 Ligue 1 outings this season and seems to have fired himself on to the radar of Newcastle and the Toffees.

Both sides need at least one number nine this summer – the Magpies probably need two – but so do West Ham United and the Irons must throw their hat in the ring.

Javier Hernandez was West Ham’s hero on Sunday by scoring a late equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw away to Chelsea.

He is undoubtedly a good striker, but eight goals in 25 Premier League games this season indicates that West Ham can’t rely on him from August to May.

They certainly need an upgrade and trying their luck for Plea makes sense. After all, former Hammers boss Slaven Bilic seems to have been a fan.

Bilic had been linked with the 25-year-old in each of the last two summer transfer windows, with Le10 Sport reporting in June 2016 that the Croat wanted him in East London.

Everton might be the most attractive proposition if themselves and Newcastle are genuinely interested, but Plea will most likely be aware of West Ham’s previous interest and that might stand them in good stead.
