West Ham United should move for the unwanted Newcastle United man.
The Mail reported on Saturday that West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian is free to leave the club, despite Darren Randolph already joining Middlesbrough.
If true, it would suggest that West Ham boss Slaven Bilic may recruit someone else as cover for Joe Hart, who joined on loan from Manchester City this week.
With that in mind, should the Croat make a move to sign Newcastle United’s Karl Darlow?
Middlesbrough were linked with the 26-year-old earlier this month, but their capture of Randolph might suggest that he is no longer needed by Garry Monk.
Darlow was excellent in helping Newcastle to Premier League promotion last season, but Rafael Benitez is seemingly in the market for an upgrade, though this might be a reflection on the Spaniard’s desire to enjoy a fine return to the top flight than Darlow’s shortcomings.
He is, however, relatively unproven in the Premier League, but he did acquit himself well during the back end of the 2015-16 campaign, making nine appearances.
The former Nottingham Forest man has shown enough in both divisions to warrant a top-flight move. West Ham took in £5 million for Randolph and it should be reinvested in a move for the Magpies stopper.
He wouldn’t dislodge Hart – who is only on loan – but long term he is a big talent with a bright future and the Manchester City man could do with a quality rival competing for his number one shirt.
