Tottenham lost to West Ham in the previous round of the Carabao Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur faced a backlash from their own fans after taking West Ham lightly in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Spurs let a two goal lead slip at home to the Hammers, who bounced back to stun Mauricio Pochettino’s men 3-2. The manager took flak for a weak team selection, in a competition Spurs had a strong chance of winning.
So it will have been even more frustrating for Tottenham to see West Ham’s limp performance in the quarter-finals against Arsenal.

What a game the North London derby could have been at this stage of the competition, had Spurs earned their way there.
West Ham instead went out with a whimper. They played a weakened team, against an Arsenal side which also left key players out – and were there for the taking.
Embarrassingly, West Ham mustered only one shot at goal the entire game, and no efforts on target.
Tottenham’s own form may be mixed, but surely they would have put up a much better fight than the Hammers did.
It really was a missed opportunity from Spurs not to have seen off the Hammers in the last round, and seeing West Ham squander their chance of getting to the semi-finals just underlined the errors made by Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
