West Ham United have taken to social networking site Twitter to congratulate Darren Randolph on his performance for the Republic of Ireland on Monday.
The Republic of Ireland played out a 1-1 draw with Sweden in their opening Group E game at the Euro 2016 finals on Monday.
Wes Hooligan put Martin O’Neill’s side in the lead at Stade de France in Saint-Denis just three minutes into the second half. Ciaran Clark scored an own goal and restored parity for Sweden in the 71st minute.
West Ham goalkeeper Randolph started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, and he has expressed his disappointment at the final result on Twitter.
The London outfit, though, have stated on Twitter that they are proud of the 29-year-old.
Over the course of the 90 minutes at Stade de France in Saint-Denis on Monday, the Republic of Ireland had 43% of the possession, took nine shots of which four were on target, and earned five corners.
Sweden had 57% of the possession, took seven shots of which none was on target, and earned five corners.
