West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing the Manchester City ace.
Hammers boss David Moyes will be desperate to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow night.
One of the Scot’s potential targets is Manchester City centre-back Eliaquim Mangala, according to a report from the Sun, with a loan move for the Frenchman being mooted.
The 26-year-old has received high levels of criticism during his time in England, after moving to the Etihad from Porto in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth £32 million.
It could be argued that the France international has never really been given an opportunity to prove his worth, however, and he could very well still have a lot to offer at the very highest level.
The Hammers are currently in the midst of somewhat of an injury crisis in all areas of their squad, so additions in every department will surely be on Moyes’ agenda.
Mangala could fit the bill perfectly at the London Stadium. He is physically strong, competent in the air, and has a lot to prove within the game.
He has already earned eight international caps for France, and with the World Cup in Russia just five months away, he will surely still be harbouring an outside ambition of making Didier Deschamps’ squad for Fifa’s showpiece tournament.
A loan deal would be ideal for both West Ham and Man City, and if Moyes manages to get a deal for Mangala over the line, it could turn out to be a transfer of real significance, for both West Ham and the player.
