West Ham United are allegedly keen on signing the experienced defender.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini will undoubtedly be looking to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium this month, as he looks to guide his side to a top seven finish come the end of the season.
Central defence will be a key area where the Chilean wants to strengthen, and according to Turkish media outlet Fanatik, the Hammers are lining up a bargain swoop for Fenerbahce centre-back Martin Škrtel.
The Slovakian would be a terrible signing for West Ham, however.
At 34, Skrtel is well past his best, and he was already showing that he couldn’t keep up with the robust nature of the Premier League any more during his latter years with Liverpool.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, the 103-capped Slovakia international is strong in the air, but he is slow and cumbersome along the ground.
Skrtel would be a decent back-up for West Ham’s current defenders, but any potential move for him would reek of desperation, and totally smack of a lack of vision.

The Hammers should be looking at making more forward-thinking signings. Younger, more hungry players with a point to prove should feature highly on Pellegrini’s wish-list, if the east London outfit really do want to make progress over the next few years.
Skrtel is a decent player, but West Ham really shouldn’t be entertaining the idea of bringing him to the London Stadium this month.
There are far better players out there, the club’s scouts just need to find them.
