It has been reported by the British tabloid that Arsenal have put up Maitland-Niles for sale this summer and are hoping to get £30 million as transfer fee.
Tottenham have registered their interest in the versatile 22-year-old, while West Ham, Crystal Palace and Fulham have also shown ‘a firm interest’ in the Englishman, who was hailed by head coach Mikel Arteta in Football.London in January 2020, with the Spaniard saying that he is “a very useful player with great speed, technically gifted, a good passer of the ball”.
Stats
According to WhoScored, Maitland-Niles made 15 starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal this past season, providing two assists in the process.
The 22-year-old – who can operate as a midfielder, winger, full-back or wing-back – also made four starts and two substitute appearances in the Europa League for the Gunners, and played five times in the FA Cup and scored one goal in one EFL Cup tie in 2019-20, according to WhoScored.
Leaving Arsenal
If Arsenal have decided to sell Maitland-Niles, then it is likely that he will not be at the Emirates Stadium next season.
While it is hard to see the 22-year-old cross the North London divide and move to Tottenham, a switch to West Ham would make sense, given his versatility to play in a number of positions and the Hammers’ need for a new right-back and probably a young midfielder.
