West Ham United and Burnley are set to miss out on Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson to Fulham, according to The Express.

It has been reported that both West Ham and Burnley are interested in securing the services of Mawson from Swansea, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.

Fulham, who won promotion from the Championship last season, are also interested in the 24-year-old and are set to sign the central defender in a £25 million deal, according to The Express.

Missing out

Mawson is a good defender who has proved himself in the Premier League, and West Ham will be disappointed if they miss out on the Swansea star.

The Hammers do need a young and established defender, and the 24-year-old centre-back does fit the bill.

Perhaps there is still time for Manuel Pellegrini’s side to make a late attempt to snap up Mawson, although a transfer fee of £25m does appear a bit steep.
