West Ham United are interested in signing Manchester United-owned Aston Villa goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported that West Ham are lining up a £4 million move for Johnstone, who is on loan at Championship club Villa from Premier League giants United at the moment.

It has also been claimed that the Hammers will send Joe Hart back to Manchester City, having signed the England international goalkeeper on a season-long loan deal in the summer of 2017.

The Hammers, though, could have to pay more, as The Sun reported earlier this month that United want £6.5m as transfer fee for the 24-year-old goalkeeper, who is claimed to earn £25,000 per week as salary.

Good signing

Johnstone is a very good goalkeeper who has proved himself in the Championship, and the United man would be a good signing for West Ham.

The former England Under-20 international has been playing regularly for the Villans, and that would help him settle in nicely in David Moyes’s West Ham side next season.
