According to The Daily Mail, West Ham United are interested in signing John McGinn from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

McGinn has been superb for Villa since he joined from Hibernian in the summer of 2018.

The Scotland international midfielder played a key role for the Villans this past season, as Dean Smith’s side clinched promotion to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs.

According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old midfielder made 42 starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for Villa this past season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in the process.

This is not the first time that West Ham have been linked with McGinn, though. Back in December 2017, The Sun claimed that the Hammers wanted to sign the Scotland international midfielder in January 2018.

David Moyes was in charge of West Ham at the time, and McGinn was playing for Scottish club Hibernian then.

With Villa having been promoted to the Premier League for the 2019-20 campaign, it is hard to see West Ham being able to sign McGinn this summer.
