West Ham United are ‘expected’ to sign Craig Dawson from Watford before the summer transfer window in England closes on Friday, according to The Guardian.
It has been reported that West Ham have missed out on a host of other targets, but the Premier League club will secure the services of the 30-year-old defender this week.
The report has added that the centre-back is unlikely to cost more than £4 million in transfer fees for the Hammers.
Watford spell
Dawson joined Watford from West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2019 on a four-year contract.
According to Sky Sports, the Hornets paid the Baggies £5.5 million in transfer fees to secure the services of the Englishman.
The centre-back made 26 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Watford last season, scoring two goals in the process, according to WhoScored.
Good signing for West Ham United?
Dawson is a good central defender who will do a decent job for West Ham, who need to get better defensively, as they aim to push for the top 10 in the Premier League table this season.
