Domingos Quina has told The Sun that the West Ham coaches have compared him to Real Madrid star Luka Modric due to his style of play.

Quina is arguably one of the brightest prospects currently coming through at the London Stadium having joined the Hammers in May 2016 after spending time with Benfica and Chelsea.

Irons fans have not been treated to too many glimpses of the 17-year-old starlet however, with Quina making just two appearances for Slaven Bilic’s men – both of which came in the Europa League tie with Domzale last year – but the midfielder has explained what kind of player the supporters can expect to see when he breaks into the team on a more regular basis.

“The West Ham coaches think I’m more like a Luka Modric-style of player, I can play eight or 10,” he told The Sun.

“I’ve also played as a No 6 for the U23s.

“It’s still a learning process, but I prefer to be on the ball as much as I can and score goals. I want to be an eight in the future too.”

With West Ham probably needing a couple more wins to be guaranteed of safety this season, it seems unlikely that Bilic will take a gamble by throwing Quina into the side until relegation is definitely out of the equation.

But with the season looking likely to finish with a mid-table position, throwing the teenager into the side at some stage could provide the Hammers with a major boost and something to look forward to heading into the next campaign, especially if Quina manages to show anything that suggests that he could go on and become something like the next Luka Modric.
