West Ham star Moses Makasi has posted a hugely positive update on Instagram as he continues his recovery from a knee injury that saw his loan at Plymouth Argyle cut short last season.

The 22-year-old managed just seven appearances for Plymouth before tearing cartilage in his knee, which has since ruled him out for almost six months.

He has previously claimed that he was playing for Plymouth with the injury, last featuring on April 14 during a League One clash against Portsmouth. Now back with West Ham, Makasi is closing in on a return to action.

Makasi told fans on Instagram that he is delighted to be “back on the pitch” after carrying the injury for six months, as he enters the latter phase of his rehab to finally overcome the problem.

Makasi has been included in Manuel Pellegrini’s 25-man Premier League squad despite failing to feature for the Hammers’ senior team so far in his career.

He has less than 12 months remaining on his current contract at the London Stadium, but his return from injury will now give him a chance to show that he is worthy of a new deal and an extended stay in east London.

Makasi is a regular in West Ham’s second string and he is expected to return to the Under-23 side with a view to breaking into the first team, after captaining the reserve side in 10 of his 11 Premier League 2 appearances last season.
