Angelo Ogbonna returned to action for West Ham United on Tuesday during a 1-1 draw with Boreham Wood after suffering a long-term knee injury – and both Alessandro Diamanti and Declan Rice have responded on Instagram.
Ogbonna, 34, picked up the injury during a Premier League clash against Liverpool in November. Since then, he has been working hard to return to action – and has been given a one-year deal by David Moyes.

Now fit, he returned to action against Boreham Wood with 23 minutes left on the clock. Said Benrahma scored for the Hammers but West Ham were unable to hold on to victory in the pre-season friendly.
Following the match against Boreham Wood, Ogbonna has taken to Instagram. The £8million (Mail) signing will now be hoping to add to his 200 West Ham appearances, having made the return to action in West Ham colours.
Diamanti and Rice have responded: Ogbonna returned to West Ham action
Ogbonna’s return is a timely boost. West Ham do have options at centre-back, the signing of Nayef Aguerd helping them. Kurt Zouma and Craig Dawson were first choice last season, while Issa Diop could still depart.
That is, despite reports claiming David Moyes has halted a possible move for Diop to London rivals Fulham. But with the Hammers in European action, Ogbonna will certainly be a crucial part of the West Ham squad.
Responding to Ogbonna’s Instagram post, Hammers skipper Rice applauded Ogbonna for his return – while ex-Hammers attacker and fellow Italian Diamanti said: “Great! You are a beast.”
