Speculation has been rife over the future of under pressure West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic and out of work former Everton boss Ronald Koeman.
West Ham sit precariously above the Premier League relegation zone after a terrible start to the season.
Just two wins from their opening 10 games has put Slaven Bilic’s job in doubt with supporters turning on the board and manager.
A host of managers have been linked with the Hammers job from Roberto Martinez to Carlo Ancelotti and Rafa Benitez.
But Ronald Koeman’s availability after his sacking by Everton may have changed the landscape of West Ham’s search for a new manager with supporters urging the club not to waste the opportunity to offer him the role.
West Ham threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace last time out much to the anger of supporters.
The performance showed the Hammers have class in their ranks but a lack of professionalism, focus and fitness.
And despite his sacking at fellow strugglers Everton – which was deemed harsh by many – Koeman would be just the high profile replacement who might be able to get the best out of what is an unbalanced but talented squad.
It could be argued that Everton suffered the same problems as the Hammers.
But the major difference between Everton and West Ham is that the East Londoners do have quality striking options such as Javier Hernandez, Marko Arnautovic, Andre Ayew, Michail Antonio, Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho in their ranks.
Their biggest failing is combining together as a team to get the best out of those players and playing as a unit with professionalism and discipline.
Koeman is a hardline manager who has a reputation as something of a taskmaster and could be just the man for the job.
But given his standing in the game, the Dutchman won’t be around for long and West Ham’s co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold will have to be decisive if they hope to land him ahead of other clubs across Europe.
