West Ham United are chasing Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike just 18 months since Newcastle United’s chase collapsed.

Former Newcastle United target Hugo Ekitike could end up in the Premier League after all with West Ham United keen.

That is according to a report from RMC Sport, who claim that Ekitike is attracting interest in the final month of the transfer window.

PSG signed Ekitike from Stade de Reims in a deal worth €35million (£31million) but may already seek to replace him.

West Ham are thought to have ‘expressed interest’ in signing Ekitike, but so have Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen and Nottingham Forest.

It’s stated that PSG may actually look to offer Ekitike to Eintracht Frankfurt as a makeweight in a deal for their star striker Randal Kolo Muani.

PSG seem open to letting Ekitike go and there are a number of possible exit routes for him this summer.

That makes West Ham’s task a little trickier though, which is hardly what fans want to hear after a frustrating summer window to date.

Hugo Ekitike could end up in England after Newcastle United snub

Ekitike’s name may be familiar to some Premier League fans.

The centre forward attracted major interest from Newcastle United in January 2022 having impressed for Reims.

L’Equipe reported that whilst Newcastle agreed a deal with Reims, Ekitike rejected the move to St James’ Park.

Newcastle were back in the summer of 2022 though as The Telegraph reported that the Magpies had again agreed a deal.

Again though, Ekitike wasn’t keen on Newcastle and ended up joining PSG instead.

The 21-year-old only started 12 Ligue 1 games last season though as he struggled to nail down a key role in the French capital.

There is huge potential in Ekitike; he called ‘very special’ by his former Reims manager Oscar Garcia.

It seems that PSG don’t have big plans for him right now though and with West Ham seeking more firepower, Ekitike could be targeted as a replacement for Gianluca Scamacca.
