West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan in the January transfer window, with the right-back free to leave Old Trafford.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 24-year-old fullback is on West Ham’s radar as Wan-Bissaka will once again look to leave Manchester having fallen completely out of favour at the club, with the £50m signing from Crystal Palace playing just four minutes in all competitions this season.
As per the report, West Ham stand in a strong position to sign Wan-Bissaka next month with the player a client for Unique Sports Management, who oversaw Maxwel Cornet’s move to east London from Burnley in the summer transfer window.
That being said, David Moyes’ side are far from the only club interested in signing Wan-Bissaka, with 90min claiming that Leeds United are also chasing the former England youth international, as well as Wolves and former club Palace.
With Vladimir Coufal expected to leave West Ham next month, Wan-Bissaka could be an exceptional replacement for the Czech Republic international regardless of the defender’s lack of football this season, with the fullback one of the best in his position in Europe in his first year in Manchester.
Indeed, West ham have proven to be a great club for once-written-off players to make a name for themselves, with Jesse Lingard the clearest example following the attacking midfielder’s incredible loan spell at the London Stadium in 2021. And Wan-Bissaka could experience a similar boost.
West Ham must do all they can to sign Wan-Bissaka in January
Wan-Bissaka’s time at United has been nothing but a nightmare in the past few months, with the once highly-rated defender now relegated to a permanent fixture on the Manchester bench. And for West Ham, the Irons could be the perfect landing spot for the 24-year-old.
After all, West Ham are in need of a right-back in January, and the Hammers have shown already that they are the ideal home for a Premier League player looking to kick their career back into gear, which is exactly what Wan-Bissaka needs in January.
