The Paraguayan joined West Ham United from Corinthians on Sunday.

West Ham new-boy Fabián Balbuena sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and declared that he is aiming to emulate his fellow South American Carlos Tevez during his stay at the London Stadium.
The 26-year-old joined the Hammers from Brazilian side Corinthians two days ago, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £6.5 million, and he arrives in east London with a big reputation in his homeland.
Manuel Pellegrini has begun his summer transfer business in earnest, bringing in a plethora of highly talented players, and the Paraguay international certainly fits into that category.
Balbuena spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and shared how he hopes to leave his mark at West Ham, just like Hammers cult hero Carlos Tevez did 11 years ago:

“The South Americans that played here have always left a good impression, like both Tevez and [Javier] Mascherano, so this means West Ham is known in South America. So, when South Americans come here and play well they leave an impression, and I hope I can do the same.”
The 34-year-old Argentine spent one year with West Ham during the 2006/07 season, and endeared himself to the Hammers faithful with his maverick displays that ended up keeping the east London outfit in the Premier League.
And if Balbuena can emulate Tevez’s popularity at West Ham, he is one for a seriously successful spell in east London.
