West Ham United are reportedly keen to lure Atalanta’s Serie A talisman Duvan Zapata to the Premier League.

Duvan Zapata was apparently on his way to Napoli. But it seems that those reports might have been a little premature.
The Colombian striker enjoyed a remarkable 2018/19 campaign, the best of his career. With 28 goals in all competitions, the once-middling centre-forward fired Atalanta into the Champions League for the first time, not to mention the Coppa Italia final.
But is Zapata set to join Napoli alongside Colombia team-mate James Rodriguez this summer? Well, unless Carlo Ancelotti’s side free up plenty of funds and quickly, it doesn’t seem likely.
“As long as Napoli don’t sell any players, I doubt that they can buy certain players,” Zapata’s agent Fernando Villarreal told CalcioNapoli 1926 when asked whether Zapata was on his way to the Stadio San Paolo.

Considering that West Ham United appear to have ran into a brick wall in their pursuit of Salomon Rondon, Maxi Gomez and Aleksandar Mitrovic, Villarreal’s admission could just be the answer to their prayers.
West Ham are apparently still in the race for Zapata after showing an interest in January, according to Tuttomercatoweb, and the 28-year-old looks like exactly the kind of powerful, athletic and prolific goalscorer who would take West Ham from the ‘best of the rest’ to potential top six candidates.
