West Ham United cannot rely on Angelo Ogbonna, who is simply not good enough for the Premier League in his current form.
West Ham United have a lot of work to do in the months ahead as they bid to maintain their status as a Premier League club.
The Hammers are currently 17th in the table, one point clear of the drop zone with 14 matches played, and after their 5-1 hammering at the hands of Arsenal last weekend it is clear their defence needs work.

Reinforcements could well arrive at the London Stadium in January and it is at the back where manager Slaven Bilic has to focus, signing a player who can offer the quality sadly lacking in Angelo Ogbonna.
Winston Reid is by far West Ham’s best centre-back and Bilic must do everything in his power to bring in a quality partner for the New Zealand international.
That man is not Ogbonna, and Reid cannot be expected to do everything on his own.

There are options out there, but whether West Ham can get their man midway through a campaign remains to be seen.
There is of course work to be done at the opposite end of the field, although the return of Andy Carroll has eased the pressure somewhat in that regard.
West Ham cannot afford to keep shipping goals at such an alarming rate, and as Leicester City proved last season, an effective central defensive unit does not have to cost the earth; it just has to be the right men at the right time.
