The Chelsea hitman would be an excellent addition for West Ham United.

Manuel Pellegrini manager

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini still has a lot of work to do at the London Stadium, if he is to build a squad who are capable of making a sustained push for the top six.

The January transfer window will be a real opportunity for the Chilean to bolster his ranks, and one particular area where he will surely want to strengthen is his centre-forward department.

Andy Carroll is obviously not reliable from a fitness perspective, and the Hammers should seriously consider cutting their ties with the 6ft 4in hitman.

And West Ham should bring in Olivier Giroud as his replacement.

The French World Cup winner is out of contract with Chelsea in the summer, so the Hammers might be able to tempt the west London outfit into selling the striker in January for a cut-price deal.

The 32-year-old is arguably the best target man in the game, and he would offer West Ham a fantastic focal point from which to build their attacks.

Giroud is currently behind Alvaro Morata in the centre-forward pecking order at Stamford Bridge, so he would surely be tempted by the offer of more regular first-team action at West Ham.

The former Arsenal man possesses all of the attributes West Ham need in the attacking department, and he would be the perfect foil to Javier Hernandez.

The pair could strike up a really deadly partnership, and Pellegrini quite simply must attempt to bring the France international to the London Stadium in January.
