West Ham United have been linked with the Italian midfielder but they do not need him.

According to a recent report from Tutto Sport, West Ham United are among the clubs interested in signing Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro this summer, but a move to the Hammers would make no sense given the presence of Cheikhou Kouyate and Pedro Obiang at the London Stadium.

What West Ham need is goals, and following the Daily Mail’s claim that Slaven Bilic is aiming to bring attacking midfielder Badou Ndiaye to England this summer, it sees the Hammers boss is looking to rectifiy last season’s biggest problem.

But a move for Sturaro should not be anywhere near the top of his to-do list, with a new striker, an additional winger and another centre-back all needed as West Ham look to improve on last season’s hit-and-miss efforts.

While Sturaro has featured in a number of different positions during his career, he is very much a central midfielder and that is one area of the field where West Ham do not need to spend too much time strengthening this summer, especially if Ndiaye arrives.

The Juventus fringe player needs to move on to get the regular game time his talent deserves, but West Ham are not the club for him.

The Hammers’ hierarchy need to start making the right transfer decisions before it is too late, with the club’s fans already worrying it could be a repeat of last summer, when deals for the likes of Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza hardly set pulses racing.

At another time, Sturaro may have been the answer, but not this year, when West Ham’s struggles in front of goal need to be addressed now.
