According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are set to sign Jeff Hendrick on a four-year deal this weekend despite interest from league rivals West Ham United.
The Republic of Ireland international is a free agent after leaving Burnley.
A report from 90Min this week claimed several Premier League clubs were showing an interest, including Everton, Southampton and newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion.

The latest from the Daily Mail add West Ham to the list.
But Hendrick is Newcastle-bound. The former Derby County midfielder has agreed a four-year deal, and confirmation is imminent after completing a medical.
Newcastle will welcome Hendrick’s versatility and top-flight experience.
West Ham, meanwhile, will seemingly turn their attentions elsewhere as a new energetic midfielder evidently tops their wish-list ahead of the new season.
The Hammers currently have options at their disposal. However, with Mark Noble’s age, Declan Rice attracting interest and Jack Wilshere’s fitness, it’s a vulnerable area.
According to Footmercato this past week, West Ham are interested in signing Strasbourg midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde but face competition from Fiorentina.
France Football ironically claimed Fiorentina were eyeing Bellegarde back in May as a replacement for Erick Pulgar who is another midfielder linked with West Ham.
While Hendrick may have been on the Hammers’ list, he appeared to be just one of several.
