West Ham United have seen Aaron Cresswell enjoy a fine season, easing David Moyes’ worries at left back.
Earlier in the season, Arthur Masuaku was playing as a left wing back with Cresswell as a left-sided centre back, but Masuaku’s injury has prompted a change in system.
If Moyes wants to go back to a 3-4-3 setup next season, he may need to add another left back option to support Masuaku and allow Cresswell to play as a left-sided centre back again.
One player linked earlier this season was Omar Richards, with the Reading Chronicle reporting in October that the Hammers were keen.
The Reading star has impressed this season, showing great pace and attacking ability for the Royals, even if he hasn’t picked up a goal or assist this term.
Richards is only 23 and looks to have a huge future ahead of him, but any hopes of West Ham securing him this summer have now been killed off.
The left back is out of contract this summer, but rather than jump to the Premier League, he is picking a huge, stunning move to the Bundesliga.
The Daily Mail report that Richards has undergone a medical with Bayern Munich, meaning he will complete a dream move to the Allianz Arena very soon.
Bayern have swooped to sign Richards on a free transfer at the end of the season, and he will become the cover and competition for Alphonso Davies at left back.
That’s quite the step up for Richards, and Bayern’s surprise move leaves West Ham having to go back to the drawing board.
