The Arsenal ace was a key target for both West Ham United and Everton.
Sky Sports are reporting today that the Hammers have ended their pursuit of Gunners striker Olivier Giroud, which will surely now leave the path clear for the Toffees to bring the Frenchman to Goodison Park this summer.
Ronald Koeman is thought to be frantically scrambling around to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who recently left Everton for Manchester United, and Giroud is one of the Dutchman’s key targets, according to the Express.

The Mirror claim, however, that the Blues will have to part with at least £30 million in order to get their man, but without competition from West Ham, their job in bringing the France international to Merseyside will now surely be slightly easier.
The Arsenal striker would be the perfect replacement for the recently-departed Belgian, and even though he is approaching his 31st birthday, he still has plenty to offer at the highest level, after having kept himself in fantastic shape and condition.
His aerial strength is well-known, but he is far more than just a target man.
The manner in which he brings others into play by holding the ball up with his impeccable touch and technique could prove to be crucial for Everton this season.
The 30-year-old is the type of forward who will guarantee his club 15 Premier League goals per season, and with the multitude of attack-mined, creative midfielders in the Toffees squad, Giroud could really flourish at Goodison.
And even if Koeman has to pay £30 million for the Gunners hitman, it could turn out to be money very well spent.
