The Arsenal star was wanted by West Ham United this summer, according to reports.
Hammers boss Slaven Bilic’s search for a top class striker continues to prove illusive, with many of his top transfer targets seemingly unwilling to make the move to the London Stadium.
One of those targets was Gunners forward Theo Walcott, according to the Sun, with the West Ham manager prepared to pay £25 million to obtain the pacey star’s services.

The Hammers should consider missing out on the England international as a lucky escape, however.
Since he burst onto the scene 12 years ago, Walcott has flattered to deceive, failing to establish himself in either the Gunners first team or the England national team’s starting XI.
He has an abundance of pace, that goes without saying, but everything else about Walcott’s game is very average.
The former Southampton star lacks an end product, and relies solely on his pace to beat opposing defenders. His finishing can be accomplished at times, but only when he doesn’t have time to think.
The 28-year-old forward has often been accused of lacking fight and passion, especially in big games – a trait that certainly would not have endeared him to the Hammers faithful.
West Ham are in desperate need of a goalscorer, someone who can guarantee them 15-20 goals per season, and Walcott certainly would not have been that man.
So if the Daily Star’s report is to be believed, and Walcott has no interest in a move to the London Stadium, Hammers fans shouldn’t be too disappointed on the prospect of missing out on the Arsenal man.
