West Ham midfielder Pedro Obiang has undergone an operation to correct his knee injury.

West Ham United have suffered a shattering blow just days after the January transfer window as Pedro Obiang has been reportedly ruled out for the rest of the season – and the midfielder has posted a message on Instagram.
Football London has reported that the 25-year-old has undergone surgery to repair a grade three tear on his medial ligament, which he injured against Wigan in the fourth round of the FA Cup. It could see him miss the rest of the campaign.

It now leaves the Hammers with just Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate as proven first-team midfielders, with Manuel Lanzini and Edimilson Fernandes both injured. Josh Cullen is still learning the ropes, while Pablo Zabaleta is best used in defence.
Spaniard Obiang posted on Instagram, informing fans that he is “really good” after going under the knife, and thanked fans and teammates for their support.
Obiang has been a mainstay of David Moyes’ side since the Scottish boss took over, with the Hammers lacking in central midfield options this season after selling Havard Nordtveit to Hoffenheim in the summer.
The former Sampdoria midfielder will now be looking to recover as soon as possible in order to defy the odds and pull on the claret and blue strip once more this season.
The Hammers face Watford at the London Stadium on Saturday in what is an important fixture as they look to get back to winning ways after Saturday’s loss to Brighton.
