West Ham United are back in the market for Manchester City defender Nathan Ake as David Moyes seeks major summer recruits.
It’s no great surprise that West Ham are being linked with centre back signings.
Issa Diop’s future appears to lie away from West Ham and Angelo Ogbonna is coming off a major injury well into his 30’s.
West Ham would probably want to sell Diop to then replace him with a new signing to bolster Moyes’ back line.
The latest rumour surrounds Ake, with The Times claiming that Moyes is considering a summer move to sign the Manchester City man.
Ake was heavily linked with West Ham in January. Eurosport claimed that Ake was interested in a move to West Ham should the opportunity present itself.
The January window ended without West Ham making their move though, possibly preferring to wait until the summer.
Ake, 27, has only started eight Premier League games this season and 15 across all competitions.
With the World Cup on the horizon, Ake won’t want to risk missing out on a spot in the Netherlands squad.
That may mean Ake fancies moving on this summer with West Ham now emerging as a potential destination.

Ake cost City a staggering £41million back in 2020 with Pep Guardiola pouncing to sign him after Bournemouth’s relegation.
City would likely expect most of that money back, meaning a deal for Ake won’t exactly come cheap for West Ham.
Ake would also provide a left-footed option at the back for West Ham, which is something only Ogbonna and, in a back three, Aaron Cresswell can offer.
That may be why Moyes is looking towards Ake, who would be lucky to be a part of this superb West Ham team who have made it to the Europa League semi-finals.
