Last week, it was said that Newcastle were preparing a £2.5m bid to sign Harrison Ashby from West Ham.
The 20-year-old has been promoted to the first-team by David Moyes after starring in the Under-23 setup, and he was given 90 minutes in the 3-1 win over Viborg in UEFA Conference League qualifying.
Ashby also made his Premier League debut in December 2021 after coming on as a substitute against Arsenal.
In total, he has made six first-team appearances for West Ham.
Despite his breakthrough, Ashby could already be leaving the London Stadium as speculation intensifies.
What’s the story?
Well, just days after talk of Newcastle preparing an offer emerged, the Scotland Under-21 international has now followed Kieran Trippier and Elliot Anderson on Instagram.
Of course, it could be a pure coincidence, but it is certainly interesting to see that the last two people followed by Ashby on Instagram have been Newcastle players.
In our view, the West Ham No.50 could already be getting to know his new teammates.
Harrison Ashby should ignore Newcastle & stay at West Ham
In our view, Ashby would be a fool to leave West Ham at this stage of his career.
The right-back has only just broken into the first-team at the London Stadium, and under Moyes, he has a fantastic chance of making that spot his own.

Despite the presence of Vladimir Coufal, West Ham are clearly on the lookout for another right-back following an enquiry to Manchester United for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Therefore, if he stays in east London and knuckles down, it would seem Ashby has a great chance of making the right-back spot his own.
Keep an eye on this situation – with the transfer deadline arriving on Thursday, it isn’t out of the equation that Ashby could be playing for Newcastle by the end of the week.
