The reported West Ham United target had a blinder against Spurs on Saturday.

It’s been a pretty poor week for West Ham United.
The big-spending Hammers were thumped 4-0 by Liverpool last weekend and Manuel Pellegrini’s side followed that one up with a surprise 2-1 defeat by Bournemouth in London yesterday.
West Ham spent some £100 million on transfers this summer and it won’t make fans of the East London club feel any better to know that one player who Pellegrini tried and failed to sign had a stormer against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Tom Cairney, the subject of a £20 million bid by the Irons in June [Sky Sports], was arguably Fulham’s best player as Slavisa Jokanovic’s side went down 3-1 to the Lilywhites.
Here is how some neutral fans reacted to his performance:
United wound up signing Jack Wilshere to occupy the role that Cairney would have played in had he joined, though the former Arsenal man hasn’t blown anyone away as of yet.
West Ham might return for Cairney in January, but the big question is whether he is going to attract bigger fish between now and then. If he replicates the standard he showed against Tottenham for the remainder of the calendar year, that’s a very likely scenario.
