West Ham United seem to have found the right formation for them, having beaten Wolves 4-0 on Sunday in a 3-4-2-1 system.

Arthur Masuaku is shining as a left-wing back, with Aaron Cresswell playing as more of a left-sided centre back in this setup.

West Ham have been linked with a number of left backs, and it now remains to be seen whether they still target one given Masuaku’s resurgence.

If they do, then QPR’s Ryan Manning could be a prime target, with The Telegraph reporting late in July that the Hammers were really interested.

West Ham allegedly see Manning as a ‘low-risk’ option, given that he is out of contract at QPR at the end of the season and could be signed for a knockdown fee.

The 24-year-old starred last season with four goals and seven assists, emerging as one of the Championship’s top left backs under Mark Warburton’s tutelage.

On Saturday, QPR drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough and West Ham target Manning wasn’t included in the squad due to fears surrounding his future.

Boss Warburton has told London News Online that he just can’t have players raising their own personal value whilst diminishing their value to QPR as their contracts run down, so Manning wasn’t involved.

If West Ham still want Manning, then now may be the chance to strike, as QPR clearly don’t want him running down his deal, and West Ham – who don’t have the biggest budget right now – could strike a bargain.
