West Ham United are literally at rock bottom, Slaven Bilic’s job is on the line and the club needs inspiration for the crucial clash against Huddersfield.
The Hammers are propping up the Premier League table after defeat in each of their opening three games.
No points, a minus eight goal difference and a lack of signings before the transfer window slammed shut has left everyone connected with the club feeling frustrated.
According to reports Slaven Bilic’s job is on the line and supporters are planning protests against co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold at their first home game of the season against Huddersfield on Monday night.
The unrest could play straight into the plucky Terriers’ hands.
But Hammers legend Alvin Martin has issued a rallying cry to the club’s supporters ahead of the crucial match.
“Calling West Ham fans, Monday 8pm our season starts, create the atmosphere and then leave it to them, Slaven/team come on let’s do it together,” Martin said on Twitter.
“It’s OUR club no individual will be bigger (Payet) we all want the same! So let’s all pull in same direction, kick arse.
“It’s early to judge (the team’s defending), not going to single out individuals not to late to correct and push on, problems can be solved Slaven can sort.
“I’m not cheerleading just trying to bring perspective to the proceedings, early but not too late? And I feel a bit of COME ON.”
Bilic should have close to a fully fit squad to choose from although Marko Arnautovic is suspended and Andre Ayew has been injured on international duty.
Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini should be fit while Michail Antonio and Cheikhou Kouyate will be stronger after getting another two weeks of training under their belts.
Reports claim defeat to Huddersfield could be the final straw for Bilic.
