West Ham landing Sean Dyche would be big statement

West Ham United reportedly have Sean Dyche on their radar with questions remaining over David Moyes’ future.

According to a recent report from The Telegraph, there remains significant question marks surrounding whether David Moyes will still be in charge of West Ham next season – with neither side entirely convinced that keeping the partnership going would be the best move.

Moyes has achieved his main objective of keeping the Hammers in the Premier League. Their 2-0 win over Leicester City at the weekend ensures that they will remain in the top flight for another year, but it has not been a smooth ride for the former Sunderland boss, with tensions boiling over at times and some of the results proving particularly concerning.

The Telegraph reports that there is a chance that Moyes may not remain at the London Stadium beyond the summer, with the owner and Moyes himself unsure regarding whether keeping things as they are is the right decision.

The Telegraph adds that the Hammers hierarchy have been long-term admirers of Manuel Pellegrini, Rafa Benitez and Sean Dyche. Appointing any of the three would be a big statement, but perhaps at the moment, it would be fair to say that landing the latter would send out a fantastic message.

While it was always clear how great a job Sean Dyche had done at Burnley, it is perhaps only this season that he is getting all of the credit that he deserves.

With one game remaining for the Clarets, they have secured seventh spot and will be playing in the Europa League play-offs next season. It is an incredible achievement that almost no-one could have predicted before a ball was kicked at the start of the season, and being able to tempt Dyche away from that opportunity would be a startling statement from West Ham.

Right now, it is not entirely clear why Dyche would want to swap Turf Moor for the Irons if the chance presented itself in the coming months, but there is no question that it would be a brilliant move from West Ham if they could actually get something done.
