West Ham United are struggling to adapt to life at their new stadium.

Hammers centre-back Winston Reid has explained how the time has come for everyone involved with the club to stop blaming their new surroundings at the Olympic Stadium for their poor run of form, and insisted that he now feels at home at the club’s new ground, as quoted by the Express.

The 28-year-old New Zealand international is one of the few West Ham players to emerge from the opening four months of the season with any kind of credit whatsoever.

And Reid, who has been with the club since 2010, discussed the difference between the Olympic Stadium and Upton Park, as quoted by the Express:

“I think it feels like home now. It is different to where I was used to playing at for the last six years, where everything was tight at Upton Park. The atmosphere is a bit different at this stadium. But I certainly do not think it is an excuse as we played against Chelsea and everything was fine. It was just the way we started the season at home. We weren’t the team we were last year and the fans didn’t have as much to get excited about. At the end of the day it’s really only us on the pitch who can do something about it.”

Slaven Bilic’s men face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, before they face a crucial three game spell, from which they have to be looking to take maximum points from.

Home games against Burnley and Hull City respectively are followed by a trip to Wales to take on Swansea City on Boxing Day, and a return of nine points from those games would go a long way to not only salvaging their season, but keeping Bilic in a job too.
