West Ham United beat Chelsea 3-2 on Saturday afternoon – but Kevin Pietersen is baffled by their goalscoring record from corners.
We’re just days away from the start of The Ashes as England head to Australia in an attempt to win back the urn.
Many have become heroes for England in the past with outstanding Ashes displays, and Pietersen was one of them.
From his his almost brash 2005 debut to the domination of the 2010/11 tour, Pietersen has been a gold standard for Ashes batting since the turn of the century.
Despite being just days away from the start of the Ashes, Pietersen has been offering his take on football rather than cricket.
Pietersen comments on West Ham corner record
West Ham are the Premier League’s most dangerous team from set pieces, but didn’t need to score from them to beat Chelsea.
Still, Pietersen saw that West Ham boast the Premier League’s best record for scoring from corners this season.

West Ham have scored six times from corners this season, which is pretty good for this stage of the campaign.
Pietersen wasn’t impressed though, suggesting that corners are the ‘biggest waste of time in football’.
Pietersen seemingly feels that, given the number of corners taken, six goals show it’s an inefficient attacking method.
David Moyes would likely disagree, and so did many West Ham fans in the replies to Pietersen’s tweet.
