Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Jesse Lingard this week, but it seems that West Ham United aren’t preparing a move of their own.

Lingard is out of contract at the end of the season and many thought United would simply cash in this month.

Lingerd hasn’t started a single Premier League game this season and can simply leave for nothing in a matter of months.

There would be some logic in selling now, bringing in as much cash as possible before Lingard walks for nothing.

However, even if United do want to do that, it seems that Lingard doesn’t actually want to go this month.

Instead, Lingard wants to wait until the end of the season and weigh up his offers. After all, as a free agent he can command a huge signing-on fee, and who wouldn’t want that?

Sky Sports have been discussing Lingard’s future, claiming that Tottenham want to sign the 29-year-old.

Tottenham would be looking to sign Lingard in the summer, so what about West Ham swooping in this month?

West Ham took Lingard on loan in January. Lingard bagged nine goals and four assists in 16 Premier League outings for the Hammers, becoming a hero in East London.

You can imagine that West Ham fans would love to see Lingard back in claret and blue, but that may not happen.

Sky reporter Kaveh Solekhol has stated that he has been chasing up whether West Ham want to sign Lingard.

Ultimately though, Solekhol claims there is ‘nothing happening’ between West Ham and Lingard, suggesting there will be no reunion.

“I asked the question about West Ham again, whether that was a possibility, we’ve been asking the question two or three times every week,” said Solekhol.

“As things stand, I was told that’s not happening, there’s nothing happening as far as Lingard and West Ham are concerned. Of course, that could change as we get closer to the end of the window, but at the moment, the information we have is nothing going on there,” he added.

It’s worth remembering that West Ham splashed out for Nikola Vlasic over the summer despite weeks of Lingard rumours.

West Ham may instead look to get the best out of Vlasic moving forward, rather than bring Lingard back in.
