AC Milan are showing an interest in West Ham United centre back Issa Diop as they pursue defensive additions in the January transfer window.

West Ham surely can’t afford to let a centre back go in January.

If anything, the Hammers need to be bringing in defenders in January, not letting them go.

Angelo Ogbonna is out for the season whilst Kurt Zouma has recently found himself on the sidelines.

That means David Moyes is keen to get defenders in, but Milan now hope he will let one go.

Foot Mercato claim that Milan are looking to sign Diop having seen Simon Kjaer go down with a major injury.

Milan are understood to have already made contact with West Ham to try and thrash out a deal for Diop.

The giant Frenchman, 24, has only started five Premier League games this season – and all have come in December.

Moyes has turned to Diop after the recent defensive injuries, but he may well go back to a bench role after the January window.

Once branded a ‘monster’ by Jose Mourinho, Diop hasn’t quite managed to kick on after showing initial promise following his 2018 move from Toulouse.

For Diop to join Milan, West Ham would surely have to bring in two or even three centre backs.

This one surely won’t be done quickly, but keep an eye on Diop as West Ham plan defensive moves.
