The future of David Moyes has been brought sharply into focus after West Ham United secured Premier League safety at the weekend.
West Ham ran out comfortable 2-0 winners at Leicester City on Saturday to move onto 38 points.
In all liklihood that would have been another to preserve their Premier League status but Everton’s last gasp draw against Southampton in the evening kick-off officially sealed it with two games remaining.
That does not mask what has been another torrid season for the Hammers on and off the pitch.
Consecutive relegation battles is a million miles from the vision sold to supporters on leaving their beloved Boleyn Ground for the London Stadium in 2016.
Fans want a change of ownership but are demanding big changes if David Sullivan, David Gold and their vice-chairman Karren Brady are to remain.
The first thing to address is the future of David Moyes with supporters divided over whether he should be handed a new deal this summer.
Many Hammers fans want the club needs to look to a more forward thinking manager and feel Moyes is too similar to Sam Allardyce.
But now Hammers Twitter insider ExWHUEmployee has claimed Sullivan and Gold are likely to appoint Moyes on a new deal citing a lack of alternatives as the main reason.
“I got a feeling the ‘not many options’ line is going to be the one we go with,” ExWHUemployee said on Twitter regarding suggestions the board were ready to hand Moyes the reins next season.
It is hardly the inspiring reason to appoint a manager, simply because there are no other options.
Indeed that is also wide open for debate with the likes of Marco Silva, Manuel Pellegrini, Unai Emery and potentially even Rafa Benitez available this summer.
Appointing Moyes will prove divisive among supporters already disenchanted with the club.
