West Ham drew 3-3 with Bournemouth on Boxing day in a highly controversial bout.
Former West Ham United midfielder Matthew Etherington has blasted referee Bobby Madley on Twitter after the Hammers controversially conceded late goal to Bournemouth on Boxing Day.
David Moyes’ side were 3-2 up in injury time thanks to a James Collins striker and a brace from Marko Arnautovic, but Callum Wilson bundled the ball home in injury time to rescue a late point for Eddie Howe’s Cherries.
However, replays showed Wilson to be in an offside position at the back post, as well as the ball coming off his arm before ending up in Adrian’s goal. But Madley decided to give the goal after consulting with his linesman.
Etherington posed two Tweets in reaction to Madley’s decision, firstly stating he “can’t believe” that the goal was given, before replying to TalkSPORT reporter Ian Abrahams.
Josh King and Simon Francis were also amid the controversy, with Francis’ face-high lunge and King’s swinging elbow not deemed as red-card offences by the man in the middle.
The point leaves Moyes with two wins, three draws and five losses since the former Manchester United, Everton and Sunderland boss took over from Slaven Bilic at the London Stadium.
The Scot will be hoping to make that three wins next time out, as the east Londoners go up against West Bromwich Albion on January 2.
